Unforgettable Night For Sure At Center Stage

I had reservations about going alone to a concert, I'd done it before, and had a decent experience. But I could not pass up the opportunity to see one of my favorite bands at an affordable price. If you've never been to a concert at Center Stage before, it's hands down one of the best music venues in Atlanta. I've seen shows at Phillips Arena, The Tabernacle, and The Masquerade. The Masquerade is easily one of the worst venues but caters to a ton of my favorite metal and hard rock bands. But Center Stage is fantastic -- compared to hole-in-the walls like the Masquerade. The stage area allows the artist to connect with fans and choose how intimate they want to be with the audience. With the option of seating and floor at the same price, it's really a win-win. Now, as for AFI, they really took the stage by storm, and Davey gave 100%+ during his performance. His energy never dissipated and the expressions and emotions he displayed were incredibly powerful. While his voice may not be 100% as clean as it use to be, he has in no way lost his touch. A true front man. The set was crazy intense, with a good bit of old, new, and really old stuff from their roots. The rest of the guys, Hunter, Jade, and Adam were awesome as well. Never letting up and always keeping energetic pace with Davey. This band really moves as a body of art. Nothing that you would see in much of mainstream musicians. The hardest part of the night was when it all ended, while they played the encore. I don't think they could ever play long enough to satisfy my craving for this band. All in all, AFI is one of the single most dedicated bands left in their genre, do everything you can to see them live before it's too late. They are worth every penny, and worth the wait.

AFI still kicks ass!

It warmed my heart to see AFI on stage again. This was probably the best venue that I have seen them at, the Fox is both comfortable and provides great acoustics. AFI continues to sound amazing while providing a very energetic stage presence. They played a good range of songs but nearly nothing from their first four albums, especially the first two which are my personal favorites. Once a punk, always a punk. There were a lot of hardcore fans there, which was cool. But there was some inconsideration for other's well being in the lowest floor area. I am a mosher and don't mind physical contact but some guy from one level up jumped off the railing with no warning and landed on the back of a few people next to me, knocking a few to the floor. Just a warning.

Band performed great. Venue had terrible balcony seating.

This review is more about the venue than AFI. The band was awesome so no complaints there. The venue, however, had terrible setup for the seating area at the platinum seating. Basically those that were seated anywhere from the 2nd-4th row couldn’t see the stage because of people in the front row. It’s not the people in the front row’s fault but it’s just not meant to have multiple rows for this type of an event. People from the platinum seats left their seats and gathered in the back against the wall just to see the stage. I felt bad for the shorter people that couldn’t see from the 2nd row due to a tall person in front of them. So they had to leave their seats and stand at the side by the aisle. Then they were told not to stand there because they weren’t allowing people there.
